Royal Enfield thumps louder in August 2014

Eicher owned Royal Enfield reported a 66% increase in its sales in August 2014 over August last year. The number of motorcycles sold last month was 26,643 units whereas in August 2013 it sold 16,062 units. Exports were up by 47% at 522 units against 354 units exported last August. Domestic sales were 26,121 units as compared to 15,708 units sold last year for the same period.
Considering the trend Royal Enfield has been witnessing from some time, it plans to increase its production capabilities to 3 lakh units this year and to 4 lakh units in 2015. Generally, the waiting time for a Royal Enfield motorcycle in India is 5 months which makes it one of the most sought after brands in India. The annual events like Himalayan Odyssey, Reunion, Tour of Tibet have helped the company scale new heights. More and more new customers are getting attracted to the cult image this brand enjoys.
