Royal Enfield has seen a positive sales response to its recently launched more affordable variants of existing models, like the Bullet X 350 and the Classic 350 S, and it is now time for the third 350cc model to undergo the same treatment – the Thunderbird 350. The manufacturer has seen a massive dip in sales in recent times and has resorted to ways to drop the entry price of its models in a bid to revive sales.

The Thunderbird 350’s new entry-level variant is likely to be called the Thunderbird 350 S, for ‘single-channel ABS’ – the same nomenclature as the Classic 350 S. Expect similar treatment to be given to it, so all the chromed parts like the engine and gearbox, wheel rims, exhaust, and any other shiny bits will be painted black. It will also get a drum brake at the rear since this will save cost over a disc brake.
The front will retain the disc brake and ABS, but as mentioned, it will be a cheaper single-channel version. The power output of the engine and the five-speed gearbox will remain the same, as will the chassis and suspension.
The looks will also be differentiated by different paint schemes and tank logos that will be stickers instead of 3D logos. Royal Enfield might go the whole hog and switch the projector headlamp for a conventional bulb and reflector unit, too.
The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 S will sit below the current Thunderbird 350, as an entry-level variant to the model lineup, and will compete with the likes of the Jawa Forty Two.
