If there is one manufacturer who is sure to change the market share matrix in the near future, it is definitely the Tata Motors. Tata has already launched the Zest and the sedan proved to be a big game changer for the company. Now, the homegrown automaker is planning to launch the Bolt hatchback in the country, which will be launched on the coming 15th January 2015, according to our reliable sources.
Tata Bolt will be placed above the Indica and will be projected as a premium hatchback, and going by the looks and the features list, it definitely has a premium quality finish. The interiors, borrowed from the Zest sedan, are blessed with new age features like first-in-segment drive control mode, in which the driver can choose between economy, normal and sports mode and the exteriors has a ravishingly fresh touch written all over the car.
Under the hood, the car will come powered by the much acclaimed 1.2L petrol Revotron motor. The engine produces 90 bhp of power, which is also higher than some of the segment leaders. Other than the petrol 1.2 litre, the Bolt will also get the 1.3 litre diesel engine and the power will be transferred via 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata has no plans to introduce the AMT gearbox with the Bolt, at least for the time being. The Bolt would challenge the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto EVO and Maruti Swift. It is likely to be priced in a domain of Rs. 4.5-7 Lakhs.
