Second day of 6th Vintage car rally ends at BIC Noida

Snapshot: The 6th edition of the 21 Gun Salute Vintage car rally ended this Sunday where the collectors participated in a controlled speed racing at the Buddh International Circuit.

The day two of 6th edition 21 Gun Salute Vintage Car Rally &Concours Show was even more exciting as the exquisite beauties that assembled at the Red Ford the day before gathered at the Buddh International Racing circuit in Noida for controlled speed racing. Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Tourism & Culture, and Minister of State of Civil Aviation flagged off the cars from Red Fort. The enthusiasts made their way from the historic Red Fort, Delhi towards Netaji Subhash Marg and onwards to India Gate via Ambedkar Stadium to finally head on to the Greater Noida express way for Buddha International Circuit, Greater Noida following a pre-decided route in Delhi.

Mr. Madan Mohan Founder & Managing Trustee of the 21 Gun Salute Heritage & Cultural Trust said, “Experience Such Car Rally and Auto Show of International Standards would take us a step closer to spreading awareness about the vintage cars and showcase the evolution of the automobile industry to the younger generation. The 6th edition of 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concours Show 2016 has definitely surpassed all the vintage events in the country in terms of the presence of vintage cars from all key states of India and the rarest of the rare vintage jewels one can find here. Also very first time vintage cars racing happened at F1 Racing Track”. He added “The vision of the rally is to establishing India as a world-classing Motoring Tourism destination through the 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concours Show” From over 100 cars and 65 motorcycles, 1935 Rolls-Royce Phantom and 1957 Triumph Tiger were voted best car and motorcycle respectively. Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost from 1909 was voted the best show car in the international category. 

Apart from collectors in India, the event saw enthusiasts from the USA, UK, France and Germany. The jury panel comprised of several distinguished personalities, Mrs. Sandra Button – The Queen of Concours, Mr. Martin E. Button, Member of the Selection Committee for the Pebble Beach Concoursd'Elegance, Mr. Marco Makaus, an extolled name in the automotive industry, Mr. Claus Mueller, German Representative Ambassador for the 21 Gun Salute International Car Rally &Concours Show’ since 2015, Mr. Douglas Fox, Secretary of the Malaysia-Singapore Vintage Car Club, Mr. Wolfgang Blaube, German Motor Journalist, Mr. Paul Wood & Mr. Andrew Wood, Founder P & A Wood and Mr. Regis Mathieu, Restoration Specialist. Several other connoisseurs, professionals and car enthusiasts from India were also a part of the jury which also included H.H. Manujendra Shah, Maharaja of TehriGarhwal.
