Audi India has launched the second-generation RS 5 Coupe at a staggering price of Rs. 1.10 Crores (Ex. Showroom) in the country. It is the first Audi model to feature the new RS design philosophy in India, while being inspired by the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO. Packed with a plethora of bells and whistles, second-gen Audi RS 5 Coupe is powered by the new 2.9L TFSI bi-turbo engine and now available at all the company authorized dealerships across India. The high-performance coupe directly rivals the BMW M4 and Jaguar F-type in the Indian market.
Speaking of the exterior styling, the RS 5 Coupe has sweeping lines over the wide wheel arches - 15 mm wider than the Audi A5 sedan. It flaunts Matrix LED headlights as standard with dynamic rear indicators, as well as three-dimensional LED rear lights. There is a wide and flat Singleframe front grille with additional air inlets/outlets at the front and rear. The RS Sports Exhaust System comes as standard feature with the coupe. The second-gen Audi Rs 5 Coupe is lighter by 60 kgs as compared to its predecessor, while being 74mm longer, 1mm wider and 15mm more spacious than the previous-gen model. The buyers can avail Audi exclusive black styling package with exterior mirror housing in black with the coupe. In addition, optional matt aluminium and carbon exterior package are also offered.
Inside the cabin, there are RS-specific elements for greater sportiness in form of 3-spoke flat bottom steering wheel with multifunction plus, electrically adjustable front seats including memory function for the driver’s seat with pneumatic lumbar support and massage function, 3 zone air conditioning, Panoramic sunroof, Ambient lighting, Door trim with aluminium inlay and illuminated RS 5 logo etc. to name a few. The front sports seats are offered in alcantara leather upholstery as standard with option of fine nappa leather alongwith the diamond stitching and embossed RS logo. The shoulder room has been increased by 26mm for the front seat occupants, while the knee room has been extended by 23mm for the rear seat passengers.
The Audi Virtual Cockpit gets special RS screen with information on tire pressure, torque and g-forces, as well as a shift light which prompts the driver to upshift. The touchscreen infotainment system comes with MMI navigation plus and MMI touch, including intuitive free-text search and natural language voice control. It is also compatible with Apple and Android smartphones. The Bang and Olufsen Sound System with 3D sound, 19 loudspeakers and 755 watts of power comes as standard fitment. As for the safety, the RS 5 coupe boasts of Park Assist (rear view camera with parking system plus), Six Airbags, ABS, EBD, EDL, ASR, ESC with torque vectoring as standard features.
Mechanically, Audi RS 5 Coupe is powered by the all-new 2.9L TFSI bi-turbo engine which develops top power of 450bhp and peak torque of 600Nm. It is linked to an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission. The power is transmitted evenly to all the four wheels via the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system with self-locking center differential. The coupe does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.9 seconds while clocking a top speed of 250kmph and delivering a mileage of 10.80kmpl (ARAI Specified). It also features the RS sport suspension with sportier setup, Dynamic handling system, Audi Drive Select, Five-link construction at the front and rear axles, Electronic Stabilization Control with three modes and wheel-selective torque control Chassis as standard.
