Volvo Cars announces Charles Frump as the new Managing Director for the brand. Tom von Bonsdroff had concluded his stint in India, and the reins were taken temporarily by Jyoti Malhotra. The current model launch and dealer expansion exercises have already picked up pace by the company. With Charles bringing in a combined automobile experience of 17 years, 8 years with Volvo, working in countries like Japan, China, US and Sweden, things are likely to move even faster. He was a Senior Director in Marketing just recently back in Volvo Sweden, so it’s safe to say will bring in more details from head office.
Even exciting will be the follow up on Volvo Car’s announcement of CKD versions soon to roll of here in India itself. All part of the ‘Make In India’ policy, CKD vehicles will be expected to be efficiently priced and also bring in more jobs for locals. In his own words, “As one of the highest potential luxury car markets in the world, India is extremely important for Volvo. My role here is to continue and accelerate the robust growth for Volvo cars in India”. Volvo products in our opinion have always been very well built and already in tune with ride and suspension requirements for India. Apart from that all these vehicles are equipped with cutting edge safety and excellent design.
