BMW India has launched the sixth-generation high-performance M5 sedan at a staggering price of Rs. 1.43 Crores (Ex. Showroom, India) at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Being available in a petrol variant, it will be available at all BMW dealerships across India as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) model from today onwards. For the first time, BMW M5 would feature M-Specific all-wheel-drive system. In addition, the performance-oriented sedan is more powerful than ever with power output of 600bhp.
The all-new BMW M5 flaunts distinctive air inlets, a large kidney grille with double slats and an aluminium bonnet, while for the first time it boasts of a roof made from extremely lightweight, high-strength carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). In addition, several elements such as redesigned rear diffuser, side skirts, the M rear apron, the M sport exhaust system with four tailpipes and M rear spoiler come as standard equipments. Speaking of the interior cabin, the standard BMW Individual headliner in Alcantara Anthracite and the BMW Individual fine-wood trim plum brown high-gloss with highlight trim finisher Pearl Chrome, BMW Individual fine-wood trim Sen light brown and BMW Individual interior trim finishers piano finish Black are on offer with the sedan.
As for the features, the M5 gets the M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons, the M emblem with chrome detailing, M multifunction sport seats with illuminated M5 logo and M Seat belts, BMW Gesture Control, Wireless Charging for mobile phones, BMW Display key, Ambient lighting, M specific pedals and foot rest in stainless steel and M specific digital instrument cluster, Auto Start-Stop function, electric power steering, BMW iDrive Touch, BMW touchscrceen Navigation System Professional, 16 loud speakers with 600 Watts high-end Surround Sound system from Harman Kardon, BMW Apps, Apple Car Play, BMW Head-Up display and the optional Bowers and Wilkins system. All acceleration and braking actions are monitored and controlled by the Park Distance Control (PDC) with the Parking Assistant.
Coming to the safety features, BMW M5 is equipped with head and side airbags for driver and front passenger as well as head airbags for rear seats as standard. Additional standard equipment includes Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), M Dynamic Mode (MDM), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dry Braking function and Active M Differential. Under the hood, it has the 4.4L 8-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine which belts out 600bhp between 5600-6700rpm and 750Nm. The engine is mated to a new 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. It does a 0-100kmph sptint in merely 3.4 seconds. With the M xDrive drivetrain system at helm, the drive can select between M xDrive modes: 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD.
