For the ones who cherish days of the past and love cars from the days of yore, there’s a chance to witness historic and vintage cars in all their glory. At an event organised today in New Delhi, three newly restored cars were put on display, the 1951 Cadillac Convertable, 1918 Buick Tourer, 1917 Ford Model T, 1947 Buick super Eight, 1970 Ford Mustang MACH 1 for media and announcement were made for the 6th edition of the 21 Gun Vintage Car Rally and Concours show.
Mr. Madan Mohan, Founder and Managing Trustee said, “This year the vintage car rally will be organised at a much larger scale, with 125 hand-picked vintage and classic cars and will be grander than all the previous editions. The vision of the event is to bring India forward, as a world-class global motoring tourism destination.”
Several participants from Germany, UK and India have been confirmed and the cars would be on display at the Red Fort on 6th Feburary, 2016. On the second day of this two day mega event, cars would be flagged off for a ceremonial drive from the Red Fort for Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida where they would compete in category races.
Among 125 cars that have already been confirmed, some of the grandest ones would include Maybach SW 38 1937, 1959 Horch 780 Cabriolet, Lister Costin Jaguar, 1933 Jaguar SS1 Coupe, Jaguar XK 120, Mercedes 630 Murphy and Rolls Royce – Silver Ghost. Cars from brands like Chevrolet, Stutz, Aston Martin and Bentley would also be showcased among other rare cars.
The rich automotive history would be on display amidst traditional events that would showcase cultural diversity of the country. The event will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar on the 6th February while the ceremonial drive will be flagged off by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of State for Culture and Tourism and Civil Aviation. The proceeds from the event would go in furthering social causes and promoting welfare and education of girl child.
