Skoda India has planned numerous products for the Indian market. Be it the upcoming Octavia RS 245, Karoq (slated for April 2020 launch) or the Kamiq based B-SUV. With a mix of CBUs and locally-made products, the company hopes to consolidates its position in India with the upcoming year.
Now, the Skoda Kamiq has been spotted during rounds on the Indian roads once again. For the uninitiated, it was showcased for the very first time in March at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
The company is hoping to launch a similar product based on the Kamiq in India, it may or may not be called-off with the same name. Whatever the case may be, it will be the first product out of VW/Skoda's ‘India 2.0’ project which is going to give birth to several India based products. The latest spyshots reveal the test unit in a fully undisguised form, and it only suggests that it is not being tested for market speculations but for the engine (1.5L TSI Evo).
The international-spec Skoda Kamiq originally underpins the MQB A0 platform, the India version of the same will be based on the MQB A0 IN unit. In terms of overall length, it will stretch up to 4.2 to 4.3 metres and will rival the likes of the none other than Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.
On the inside, expect this Skoda Kamiq based SUV (Indian-spec) to use features such as panoramic sunroof, for connected vehicle technologies, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless charging, 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, electrically adjustable seats (front) and more such bells and whistles.
Though the Kamiq based SUV is still significantly away from launch, but by the time it arrives in the market, even Toyota-Suzuki will be ready with a competitor of their own.
