Skoda Kamiq has made its world premiere on April 23, 2018 at the Skoda International Media Workshop at the Czech Embassy in Beijing. After Kodiaq and Karoq, the new SUV is to become the third member of the Skoda SUV family. Immediately after the world premiere, the company will present the Kamiq to the public at the ‘Auto China 2018’, which will take place from 25 April to 4 May in Beijing. The urban SUV will be launched in the Chinese market only a couple of months after the motor show.
Skoda Kamiq measures 4390mm in length, 1781mm in width and 1593mm in height, while having a wheelbase of 2610mm. The Kamiq flaunts Skoda’s powerful SUV design language in form of typical radiator grille with its vertical double slats. It also gets crystalline headlights which flow into the lines of the grille. The precise, sharply cut tornado line gives a three-dimensional look while the SUV rides on 17-inch double five-spoke alloy wheels. The rear profile boasts of horiznontal crystalline tail-lamp cluster. Inside the cabin, the infotainment system is placed in in the centre of the dashboard, while the speakers are installed in angular mode. The seat covers come in a plaid pattern with 3D effect.
Skoda Kamiq comes with a newly-developed intelligent connectivity system with voice control from iFLYTEK, one of Asia’s leading providers of voice recognition based on artificial intelligence. The software understands regional Chinese dialects and can even learn individual and local language styles automatically. Smartphones can be connected via Apple CarPlay, Baidu Carlife and MirrorLink interfaces; compatible apps are operated on the 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720. In addition, the connectivity system also provides many practical services such as a guide for restrictions based on number plates, real-time traffic information, weather information and POI notifications. The Kamiq would be powered by an all-new 1.5L petrol engine which would develop 109bhp and 150Nm, mated to an automatic gearbox.
