Skoda Kodiaq Enters Series Production

Skoda Kodiaq has entered series production at the company's Kvasiny production facility in Czech Republic. The 7-seater SUV had its world premiere on September 1, 2016 in Berlin, Germany. The bookings for the Kodiaq SUV have begun in several countries, while delivery is expected to start by February 2017. The company recently announced the price of the UK-spec Kodiaq. It was priced between £21,495-£34,895 (Around Rs. 17.61 Lakhs - Rs. 28.59 Lakhs) in the UK. The Kodiaq is expected to launch in India by the end of 2017.

“We are pleased that it’s now underway. The series production launch of the ŠKODA KODIAQ is an emotional moment for the entire company and especially for our colleagues in Kvasiny“, says ŠKODA Board Member for Production Michael Oeljeklaus. “Over the last few months, the whole team has been preparing for the start of production of our new SUV model.” The manufacturing facilities in Kvasiny have been extensively modernized and expanded for the production of the Czech automobile manufacturer’s latest models. In addition to the newly commissioned car body construction and the conversion of the assembly line, the paint shop and logistics areas have also been expanded. Besides the Skoda Kodiaq, the Skoda models Superb and Yeti currently run off the production lines at the Kvasiny site.

The UK-spec Skoda Kodiaq would be introduced in four trims: S, SE, SE L, and Edition. The standard features on the SUV include LED daytime running lights, 17-inch Ratikon alloy wheels, leather multifunction steering wheel and manual air-conditioning, Front Assist, KESSY Go, Swing touchscreen infotainment system, DAB digital radio and SmartLink for seamless smartphone connectivity. The petrol variants are offered with the 1.4L TSI engine with two power trims: 123bhp and 147bhp. The range-topping petrol variant comes powered by the 2.0L TSI engine, which generates 177bhp. Coming to the diesel variants, they in-house a 2.0L TDI engine with three power trims: 113bhp, 147bhp and 186bhp. The Czech Republican automaker is offering three transmission options: 6-speed manual, 6-speed DSG automatic, and DSG 7-speed automatic gearbox. The Kodiaq is available with both the 4X2 and 4X4 drive systems in petrol as well as diesel guise.
