Skoda Kodiaq L&K Revealed Ahead of Geneva Debut Next Month

Skoda, the Mladá Boleslav-based Czech automaker, has digitally revealed the new top variant of the Kodiaq SUV ahead of its public premiere at the International Motor Show 2018 in Geneva. Being christened as Skoda Kodiaq L&K, it is named after the company's founders Laurin and Klement. The L&K variant boasts of individual design and extensive comfort features, while introducing a new petrol engine. Skoda Kodiaq went on sale in the Indian market in October last year at an introductory price of Rs. 34.49 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).

Speaking of Skoda Kodiaq L&K, it flaunts full LED headlamps and chrome grille with vertical slats while riding on 19-inch ‘Sirius’ alloy wheels. The front wheel arches feature badges with the words ‘Laurin & Klement’. A special mention goes to the modified rear bumper. The cabin boasts of leather upholstery and piano-black decorative trim. The SUV gets a three-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel, optionally available in black or beige leather trim. A subtle ‘Laurin & Klement’ logo can be found on the seats as well as on the trim strips of the instrument panel, which features in black piano lacquer accents. The logo can also be seen on the home screen of the infotainment system.

The standard equipment also includes an electrically adjustable driver's seat including memory function, door sills, which bear the ‘KODIAQ’ model logo, aluminium pedals, textile floor mats, a rain sensor, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, ambient lighting and the CANTON sound system. Mechanically, Skoda Kodiaq L&K would be available with four powerful petrol and diesel engines – including two new TSI engines. The range now includes a 1.5L TSI engine developing 150bhp, and the 2.0L TSI engine’s output has increased from 180bhp to 190bhp. The new petrol drivetrains feature particulate filters to reduce particulate emissions. This will be available for all equipment versions of the Kodiaq in the future.

The latest generation 7-speed DSG automatic transmission for petrol engines and the 2.0L TDI engine with 150bhp are also making their debut. Another 2.0L TDI drive with 190bhp completes the engine range. The two strongest engines come with 4×4 drive as standard and is available as an option for the other two. The all-wheel-drive variants of Skoda Kodiaq L&K also have Adaptive Chassis Control DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) as an option. In addition, progressive power steering is also on offer as a standard equipment. Currently, the India-spec model of the Kodiaq is sold in only one fully-loaded 'Style' trim. The L&K variant might head to the Indian market by mid 2018 and priced around Rs. 40 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
