Skoda Kodiaq SUV has been spotted on the Indian roads for the first time ever since its world premiere in September 2016 in Prague. The company had announced that it would launch the new SUV in the Indian market without giving a fixed timeline. And, now with the Kodiaq spotted testing on public roads in Pune, Maharashtra, it seems like the launch is nearer. The spy-images show the SUV wearing test plates and without any camouflage. Skoda Kodiaq would take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Chevrolet Trailblazer in India.

Skoda Kodiaq is the Czech-Republican based automaker's first full-size 7-seater SUV. Though, it would also be available in a 5-seater avatar. However, it is still not known that which of the two models would be heading to the Indian market, or even both. Being based on the Vision S concept which was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, it is based on the MQB architecture. For all those asking, the MQB platform also underpins larger sedans such as Octavia and Superb. The SUV is expected to come loaded with the Skoda Connect touchscreen infotainment system with on-board WiFi and Google Earth, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity and 360-degree bird's eye cameras.

Mechanically, the Kodiaq SUV would be available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. In international markets, it comes with three engine options: 1.4L TFSI petrol, 2.0L TFSI petrol and 2.0L TDI diesel. The transmission options available are a 6-speed manual and a DSG automatic gearbox, depending on the engine. The India-spec model is expected to get both the 2.0L 4-cylinder TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines with manual as well as automatic transmission. The company would also introduce the 4X4 drive system on the range-topping variant. Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be priced between Rs. 25-35 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom), while being locally developed at the company's Aurangabad production facility.
