In a bid to make its cars more desirable for the Indian customers, Skoda India is now offering Virtual Cockpit interface in its cars. Skoda Octavia is the first car in the company’s line-up to feature a virtual cockpit. It is to be noted that currently, only the top-spec L&K variant in the carline is available with this feature. While a few Octavia L&K variants have already been spotted at several dealer stockyards featuring a virtual cockpit, the company is yet to make an official announcement regarding the same.
Skoda’s virtual cockpit comprises a large, high-definition TFT screen which comes with a customisable layout and 3D graphics instead of the traditional analogue dials. In addition, it also comes with customisable entertainment, trip and driving assist information screens. The mounted controls on the steering wheel allow users to control zoom functions on the map.
Skoda offers this function in its premium range of cars starting from Octavia and higher models in the international markets. That said, we can expect other Skoda cars such as Kodiaq and Superb to get this feature soon. Also, company’s upcoming SUV that will go squarely against the Hyundai Creta will also get this feature on the top-spec variant. Skoda is expected to launch the SUV in India sometime around 2020.
