Skoda India has launched the high-performance Octavia RS at a sticker price of Rs. 24.62 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai) in the country. It is the company's most powerful vehicle in the Indian market till date, with no direct challenger at all. The Skoda Octavia RS gets cosmetic updates at the outside over the standard model, while loaded with several top-notch features in the cabin. Mechanically, the sedan comes with a powerful engine and retuned suspension system to suit the Indian road conditions.
Speaking about the Skoda Octavia RS, it flaunts chrome accented front grille with signature RS badging and LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps as standard features. The sedan rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the rear end comprises of LED tail-lamp cluster, stainless steel tailpipes, tailgate spoiler and rear diffuser with a strip of red reflectors. Inside the cabin, the Octavia RS sedan gets several premium features in form of multifunctional flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, ambient lighting, black leather/fabric combination seats with contrast stitching etc. to name a few. A special mention goes to the new touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link.
The Czech-Republic based automaker has also paid paramount importance to the safety of occupants as the 2017 Octavia RS comes loaded with 9-airbags, ESP and Park Assist System as standard. The company has worked on the rear suspension by lowering it by 15mm. Under the bonnet, the sedan has a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which has replaced the existing 1.8L motor. It develops a maximum power of 227bhp between 5500-6200rpm and peak torque of 350Nm between 1500-4000rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which transmits the power to the front wheels. The sedan does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.8 seconds, while clocking a top speed of 250kmph.
