Skoda has begun testing of the Rapid facelift in Bangalore and spy shots emerged online. The Sedan will be updated inside-out for the Indian market. This will be the first major facelift of the model by Skoda, since its launch in 2011. Going through the spy shots, we can see the sedan is disguised with a lot of cladding on the front that is hiding the design changes of the new bumper, grille and headlamps.
The Rapid facelift is expected to receive a new set of projector headlamps, newly designed bumper, longer Skoda butterfly grille along with re-profiled hood and fenders, while at the rear bumper is again covered, hinting for a restyled rear. Its refreshing style will be most likely to in line with Skoda’s new design language similar to that of the Octavia that is sold in the international market.
In India, the Skoda rapid is powered by the same engines as in the Vento sedan. The car gets the similar 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel unit. Both the engines get a 5-speed manual transmission while the top-end petrol variant gets the 6-speed automatic as an option. The petrol motor is good for 105PS of power and 153Nm of torque. The diesel engine makes 105PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It's an exciting engine to have in this car thanks to the adequate torque figures.
