The long wait of Skoda’s Rapid Monte Carlo edition is over, as the Skoda India has confirmed the launch of the model in India latest by August 2017 and the deliveries of the model will commence from September. The Czech carmaker had previously launched the Octavia Black edition for the Indian market and is now all set to introduce the Monte Carlo special edition for the Rapid.

The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will be provided with a red shade at exterior, while the interior will be finely finished in black. The exterior styling will an all-black front grille, ORVMs and the roof.  The new dual-tone alloy wheels will add spark to the fresh look of the car. While the interior of the car will be provided with aluminium scuff plates, faux-carbon fibre finish on the dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel will be covered with a sporty looking leather having a red-stitch.

The Indian-spec model will be offered with two engine options - petrol and diesel. The 1.6-litre petrol variant will develop a maximum power of 103 hp and a peak torque of 153 Nm, while the 1.5-litre diesel engine will churn out a maximum power of 109 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. Both the engines are paired to a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol variant will come with an option of 6-speed automatic gearbox. Moreover, the diesel unit will be offered with an optional 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition is expected to start from Rs. 10.25 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), which is around Rs. 30,000 more than the usual top-spec models of the segment currently running in India. Once launched, it will be directly competing with the cars of the C-segment Sedans in India, including the likes of Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Ciaz and the yet to be launched next-generation Hyundai Verna.
