The most recent facelift that the Skoda Rapid has received was in 2016 when the design of the car was tweaked a little. The Czech-based automaker is now planning to launch the Monte Carlo edition of the sedan this year. The launch is expected to take place during the festive season.
On the outside, the Skoda rapid Monte Carlo will come with a red coloured body. Ther ORVMs (outside rear view mirror), grille design, 16-inch alloy wheels and the tailgate spoiler have all been given a black touch.
This edition will be getting a vibrant interior theme with a dual tone colour. There are several other highlights on the inside of the sedan like faux carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, aluminium scuff plate and premium quality upholstery and floor mat. The gear knob will come with red stitching along with aluminium sports pedal.
The Monte Carlo edition of the Skoda Rapid is expected to get the same mechanism under the heart as the standard version. If so, there will be two engine trims to choose from. The 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine will be capable of making a maximum power of 110 bhp and a highest torque of 250 Nm. On the other hand, the 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine will be able to produce a maximum power of 105 bhp along with a peak torque of 153 Nm. The transmission duties are fulfilled by a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission in the diesel version and 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic in the petrol version.
Many automobile enthusiasts and experts believe that this new version is the perfect opportunity for the company to introduce the 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 105 bhp of power.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is expected to have a higher price tag than the standard version of the sedan. The standard version starts from Rs. 8.2 lakhs in India. Hence, the new edition might start from around Rs. 10 lakhs exclusive showroom price.
