The all new Skoda Yeti would be launched in India on September 10, 2014 - Confirms Skoda India. The company has officially stated that the facelift version of Yeti, which was earlier showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, would go on sale in the country from September 10. Although, it underpins the same old Yeti platform but it now adorns company's latest design language.
The Yeti SUV is being offered in two versions in international arenas - standard city version and a rugged outdoor version. However, nothing is concrete but it is expected that both these versions would make their way in India too. Yeti, despite being an SUV, appears quite elegant and peculiar, which sets it apart from the other SUVs. And with this iteration of the SUV, the company has taken the elegance a new notches higher.
Mechanically, Yeti facelift would be comprising of a 2.0-litre diesel engine which is tuned effectively to fetch two different power outputs. It would generate 108bhp of top power and 250Nm of peak torque with the front wheel drive variant while the all wheel drive variant would be having a top power of 138bhp and peak torque of 320Nm. The front wheel drive variant would come with a 5-speed manual transmission while the all wheel drive variant would boast a 6-speed manual transmission.
With its niche price, it practically has no competitors in the country. However, this 5-seater SUV is potential threat to the Renault Koleos which is a bit too expensive. Accordingly, it also has competition from the top-end variants of Mahindra XUV 500 and Renault Duster. It is expected to be priced in a domain of Rs. 16-19 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
