Spy images of the Renault HBC Compact SUV testing on Indian roads reveal subtle hints of its design.
The Renault Kiger (HBC) SUV could get a launch sometime later in 2020.
Renault might be unveiling the close-to-production version of the HBC Compact SUV at the Auto Expo 2020.
Renault is planning to introduce a competitor to the Hyundai Venue and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. In this connection, the company has been spotted testing the Renault Kiger (HBC) compact SUV on Indian roads, most probably on the outskirts of Chennai. Renault has an auto manufacturing unit near Chennai.
Spy images of the new SUV (name not yet decided) reveal interesting details. The heavily camouflaged vehicle does not display much of its exteriors, but one can gather crucial information about what the design looks like.
As the design is based on the CMF-A+ platform, the camouflaged model could resemble the Renault Triber. It could also use similar components such as the instrumentation, steering wheel, and the wheel suspensions with the Renault Triber. It is because the Renault Triber is also a product of the same platform developed jointly by Nissan and Renault.
The vehicle looks like a sub-4-metre SUV, thereby providing spacious interiors and cargo space. The spy images show that the SUV could come with 16-inch wheels and the customary high ground clearance. Though, intricate details are not clearly visible, the styling resembles an SUV-crossover model.
A few glimpses of the interior designing are available in some images that reveal features similar to what the Renault Triber has. One can expect the HBC compact SUV top variants to come with features like a unique infotainment system and a minimum of four airbags.
Though the engine details are unavailable, the SUV might not have a diesel engine. Reports say that the car will draw its power from a 1L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol motor. This engine (codenamed as HR10) could mate with either an AMT gearbox or a 5-speed manual transmission system.
Auto lovers could have a glimpse of the vehicle at the 2020 Auto Expo where Renault is planning to unveil the close-to-production version. One can expect the launch of the SUV within the next six months.
The images show that the vehicle could position itself at the lower end of the SUV spectrum, thereby competing with cars like the Ford EcoSport, Vitara Brezza, and the Hyundai Venue.
The launch date and pricing details are not available as on date. Keep watching this dedicated space as we will bring updated information on the Renault HBC Compact SUV very soon.
