Ssangyong Motor- a part of India's Mahindra Group, sold 13,232 units in the month of March this year. The Korean firm witnessed an increase of good 18.8 percent in sales as comparison to the sales figures in the corresponding month last year.
The car manufacturer sold 5,850 cars in the domestic market while 7,382 vehicles were sold overseas, including the cars sold via the CKD route. The introduction of Korando C globally, has helped the company to increase its exports by 26.5 percent.
Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, said, “We have been posting a sales uptrend for the third straight month this year thanks to the strong sales of the Korando family brand. We will further expand our sales by exploring new markets and carrying out aggressive marketing strategies, based on the positive response to main models in the global market.”
Currently, Rexton is the only product available from Ssangyong's stable in India. The car is sold in the country via the Complete Knocked Down (CKD) and is assembled at Mahindra's Chakan facility.
