Ssangyong Motor, part of the Mahindra Group, reported its highest ever monthly sales since 2005, with a total of 14,244 vehicles sold globally – 6,202 units in domestic sales and 8,042 units in exports.
The company's sales in October increased by 27.1% from a year earlier and by 22.1% on an accumulated basis. The growth was driven by the sales of the Korando C urban SUV with 5,997 units sold since its launch in 2010. In addition, the company also attributed its high sales to a record monthly production volume of 14,786 units this year, as extra work shift on days and weekends (which helped supply increase) was back to normal.
Ssangyong expects this sales growth will accelerate as the New Korando C will be launched in more overseas markets like Europe following China.
Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, commented, “We achieved the highest ever monthly sales in October since 2005 as well as profits for two consecutive quarters backed by sales increase,” adding, “Such sales growth will accelerate as the New Korando C has been receiving an overwhelming response from the global market.”
