SsangYong will also showcase its SIV-2 (Smart Interface Vehicle) mid-size premium SUV concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 in March. The SsangYong SIV -2 is an evolution of the Ssangyong SIV-1 concept with a design philosophy of “Dynamic Motion”, which was showcased at the same venue in 2013. The exterior appears to be robust and as claimed by the brand this concept hints for a future mid-size contemporary multi-purpose crossover.
The exterior of the hybrid concept is based on SsangYong’s development theme of “Robust, Specialty, Premium”. The SIV-2 will add on to the SsangYong product range as a key strategic model, where this new concept undertakes the emotional interface between the driver and car. As claimed by the company this concept incorporates a lightweight body, a low centre of gravity and a platform in which a range of powertrains, like hybrids and pure electric motors can be installed.
Under the hood, the SIV-2 will be packed with a combination of a 1.5-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine and a 10kW electric motor-generator along with a 500Wh lithium ion battery. The company claims that the 48V mild hybrid system offers a quiet and efficient driving with reduced CO2 emissions and silent running when idling and at slow speeds.
The SIV-2 mid-size crossover is expected to launch in the international market in 2018.
