If there's one car game that everyone swear by, it is definitely the Gran Turismo. The latest version of the Gran Tursimo, the GT6 is the most famous of the lot and has some of the most stylish and exciting cars. Having said that, it is not only the gamers who are excited for the game, but also some of the major automakers.

After some of the most radical designs from the rear car designers, some purely digital for the gameplay and some show car renderings, it's the time for Porsche. And it is a special one in every respect. Porsche has never rendered a car for the Gran Turismo due to some licensing issues, some of which have also plagued other game developers.

But this couldn't stop the designers from designing their own concept of a Porsche for the game, called the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo 908-04. The independent design team consists of six people from around the globe - five automotive designers and one expert photo retoucher. The team took their inspiration from the 1969 Porsche 908 LH race car.

The 908-04 share its long tail from the classic 908 LH race car which makes it distinctive. Apart from the tail, the concept shares some of its design elements from some current Porsches, including the 918 Spyder, the 919 Hybrid race car and the Mission E electric concept car that is due for the production and will hit the assembly line soon.

The design team was looking to create a machine which is "a purely manual car" and hence the raw, visceral and simple machine is what we got as a result. The design of the car may seem impractical, but the designers said that the fantastic concept is built so that someone could realistically fit inside and drive and "give you goose bumps just by imagining yourself driving it."

Being a product of the design team, there is no official word for the mechanicals and the engine. Since it is not an official concept car, it is highly unlikely that it will ever go to the production. But we are not complaining either, for we can drive the car in the Gran Turismo 6 and race it with some of the exotic cars in the game and test its mettle.
