Hindustan Motors (HM) the living legend of Indian automobile industry, is all set to launch the under 4-meter segment of the Grand daddy himself the Ambassador. Rumor has it that the car will be unveiled any day within the month of September 2013. The concept of the HM engineers is to bring the legend under the 4 meter category by shaving the boot lid by a little bit. HM says that even after reducing the size, it will not affect the space inside the cabin.
The Ambassador is older than half the population of India, and dominated the Indian car bazaar for an extremely long time. But in the new age the looks of the car got outdated and the entry of new stylish cars brought down the sales. Whatever the case might be, HM never compromised with the extremely tough build quality and beefed up engines. It's not just for fun that the ‘Top Gear’ car show hosted by the BBC network, gave big daddy the title of World’s best taxi. The company is also planning to launch the hatchback segment of the Ambassador, with cool new up to date features within March of 2014. Not just that the BS4 diesel variants will also hit the market very soon.
According to Uttam Bose, the CEO of HM, “the boot space of the new variant will be dwindled, which will not affect the cabin space. By reducing the boot space we plan on bringing the car under the sub-4 meter segment. This will have a lower excise duty on the car, and will cost less. Even though we have designed the car to be under 4 meters, it cannot be considered as a hatchback, since it won't fall to that category”. He further added, “The new model will be based on the existing platform, at the same time having very new and advanced features. The name will not change as well, but we may add something to the name, because this car will have a very small price tag when compared with other car, it will definitely have value for money”.
