Subaru has decided to entice Japanese fans of the WRX STI by launching a more powerful and appealing iteration of the model that has been dubbed “S207” and is currently on display at the Tokyo Motor Show alongside the VIZIV Future concept. It’s a special edition limited to 400 units and it has gained a more aggressive body highlighted by the dry carbon spoiler at the back while the BBS 19-inch black wheels have been designed by STI and come with 255/35 R19 tires.

The most important change has occurred underneath the vented hood where STI’s engineers worked on the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo engine and managed to extract an additional 20 bhp and 38 Nm which means the motor now churns a massive 328 bhp and 431 Nm of torque thanks to a remapped ECU and new higher performance muffler that has a lowered back pressure and is teamed up with a bespoke exhaust pipe. More power requires stronger brakes, so the WRX STI S207 has received an upgraded Brembo braking system and it also has a faster steering-gear ratio of 11:1.

The list of enhancements continues with Bilstein-branded front and rear coil springs, front struts and rear dampers while Active Torque and Vehicle Dynamics Control have been revised specifically for this model. On the inside there are heated Recaro front bucket seats and a new look for the instrument panel while the engine button has been given a makeover as well.

Subaru is offering the WRX STI S207 with a choice of four exterior body paint schemes: Sunrise Yellow, WR Blue Pearl, Crystal Black Silica and Crystal White Pearl. All of them come with special badging both on the inside and outside to denote this isn’t your typical WRX STI as it packs more punch matched by a more imposing exterior appearance which will surely be appreciated by fans of the legendary high-performance sedan from Subaru.
