Subaru has taken the wraps off the VIZIV Future concept which is actually the third one of its kind in the VIZIV (Vision for Innovation) Future series. This could provide a glimpse of the next generation Tribeca and is a follow-up to the namesake concepts from 2013 and 2014, only this time it looks closer to a production model which will probably happen next year.
Details regarding the concept’s technical specifications are scarce at the moment, but the Japanese marque is telling us that it rides on the new Subaru Global Platform and makes use of an advanced hybrid arrangement that mixes up a smaller turbocharged boxer engine with an electric motor. These two send their power to both axles which means the VIZIV Future concept adopts Subaru’s reputable symmetrical all-wheel drive layout.
It doesn’t come with a regular propeller shaft as instead it has a motor mounted on the rear axle which has enabled a flat floor inside the cabin that is now more spacious and comfortable since it doesn’t have that annoying hump anymore.
Interestingly, Subaru says their third VIZIV concept employs an evolution of the EyeSight technology and in this application it grants the concept with an automated driving system on the expressways and it can also park on its own without any human assistance.
As for the design, it’s a good looking crossover with an appealing satin white paint combined with orange accents while up front it has C-shaped headlights along LED daytime running lights shaped like a flower. It doesn’t have conventional side mirrors as the concept uses cameras instead while the “C” formation can also be found at the back in the taillights.
Also noticeable is the prominent roof-mounted spoiler, aluminum underbody protection and a glossy black finish on the wheel arches which host a set of chunky wheels featuring a shiny look. Stepping inside the cabin, it appears to be very spacious and high-tech with lots of digital screens, thin seats and a double sunroof.
