- Absence of the side body fairing will make the Gixxer 250 more nimble than Gixxer SF 250
- The Gixxer 250 will be powered by the same engine that also powers the Gixxer SF 250
- BS-VI compliant motor will also be introduced on both the motorcycles
Suzuki Motorcycle launched the fully-faired sports tourer - the Gixxer SF 250 and Gixxer SF 150 yesterday in the capital. It is now being reported that the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer will launch the naked roadster version of the same and it is expected to be christened Suzuki Gixxer 250. The naked roadster will share a number of components equipped on the fully faired Gixxer SF 250.
The Gixxer 250 is expected to be powered by the same motor that also propels the Gixxer SF 250. The oil-cooled, single-cylinder 249 CC SOHC, fuel-injected motor produces 26.1 bhp of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The motor comes mated to a manual 6-speed gearbox. At the launch, officials also confirmed that the BS-VI version of the motor will shortly make its way. The motor on the Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be in a different state of tune keeping in mind the naked roadster character of the motorcycle.
Suspension set-up on the Gixxer 250 will pack conventional telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties will be carried by single discs at both front and back with a dual-channel ABS unit. It will also sport an all LED headlamp and tail light units. The rear-end of the Gixxer 250 is expected to be identical to the one seen on the Gixxer SF 250. The naked roadster will be lighter and more nimble as compared to the Gixxer SF 250. All thanks to the absence of side body fairings.
The riding posture on the Gixxer 250 will be upright and comfortable as it is meant for the daily city commute. The manufacturer will price it less than the fully-faired sports tourer - Gixxer SF 250 which has a price tag of Rs 1,70,655 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
