Suzuki's latest offering to the naked, performance oriented segment - the Gixxer 150 - is all set to be launched on August 10. Unveiled for the first time at the Auto Expo this year in January, the motorcycle will give competition to tough guys like the new Yamaha FZ, Honda CB Trigger, TVS Apache RTR 160 and Hero Extreme. According to the company, the engine and the chassis have been developed by the experts who work on the world famous GSX-R series. The fat rear with a profile of 140 will give it a menacing look. The curves and the design of the motorcycle make it look like nothing but poetry. The ride quality is expected to be best in its class. The engine is expected to be 155cc mill which should deliver a maximum power of 14bhp and a maximum torque of 13.5Nm with the help of a five-speed transmission.
This should be a significant product for Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd. (SMIL) as it has almost negligible presence in the motorcycle market which is being led by majors like Hero, Honda and Bajaj. To make it a fuel-efficient proposition, Suzuki has empowered this motorcycle with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP).
