Suzuki unveiled the iM-4 concept at the 2015 Geneva Show in March, and now a set of patent images of the same has leaked on the web. The patent images show the production-spec model of the compact SUV based on the iM-4 concept and completely abolishes the previous reports which claimed that the production model would be different than the concept in terms of exterior styling. Though, the most prominent change that patent images reflect is the disappearance of LED headlamps from the concept car, while regular headlamp cluster replaces them in production guise.
The patent images further reveal that the mini SUV would get production mirrors, door handles, bumper and radio antenna. In addition, it features plastic wheel caps, fuel lid and rear wiper. Measuring less than 4-meters, it could be a great rival to the likes of Ford EcoSport & Mahindra TUV3OO, if it launches in India. Underpinning Suzuki's next-generation platform, it is expected to be light in weight. Just so you know, the iM-4 concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show comprised of a 1.2L DualJet engine with SHVS mild hybrid technology and all-wheel-drive system.
As for Indian market, Suzuki's Indian subsidiary Maruti is working on a different sub 4-meter SUV, which is said to be based on the XA Alpha concept. For those wondering, Maruti XA Alpha concept car was unveiled at 2012 Auto Expo. The India-specific SUV has been codenamed as YBA and has been spied several times as test mule sans camouflage. Apart from the Maruti YBA, the company would also launch an all-new premium hatchback in India, which has been named as Baleno for international markets. In India, it is being codenamed as YRA and been spied a few times. It is believed that Maruti YRA would debut Suzuki's new 1.0L turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine in India. Besides these two all-new products, Maruti would also launch Ertiga facelift and Ciaz SHVS hybrid in the country in coming months.
