Waiting period for the models like Maruti Suzuki Swift, Dzire and Vitara Brezza is set to increase as the automaker will temporarily shut down its plants in Haryana and Gujarat as part of yearly routine maintenance program. As the three plants will be closed for around a week, waiting period of the above mentioned cars will increase a bit.
These three manufacturing plants roll out 17.5 lakh cars every year, which means around 4,795 units every day. Shutting down the plants for a week means the company will see a production loss of around 33,500 units. However, the average waiting period for the Maruti Suzuki cars will be increased by around one week only. Speaking about the abovementioned models, currently the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Dzire and Vitara Brezza comes with waiting period of 8 weeks, 6 weeks and 14 weeks respectively.
Maruti Suzuki currently holds around 50% stake in the Indian car market. High number of sales of its UV models helped the brand to achieve the target. The automaker wants to produce 2 million cars every year by 2020 compared to the 17.5 lakh units it currently rolls out.
Apart from the conventional fuel powered models, Maruti Suzuki is also aiming to launch electric vehicles. Suzuki is already setting up a completely new plant in Gujarat that will make the battery packs needed for the Maruti Suzuki electric vehicles. As we reported, the Wagon R electric is going to be the first electric vehicle of the brand.
