The much-awaited launch of Tata Altroz has taken place today at prices starting from Rs 5.29 lakhs. The premium hatchback, based on the new ALFA architecture, will be available in five trim levels each in the petrol and diesel versions.

Buyers can also take advantage of customisation packages that are available with each variant. These packages enable buyers to avail the benefit of additional features without opting for a higher variant.
The BS6 norms will become effective soon in April 2020. Therefore, this vehicle comes equipped with two BS6-compliant engines:-
- 1.2L 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol variant that delivers a power of 86hp and torque of 113Nm
- 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo-diesel motor capable of producing peak power of 90hp and torque of 200Nm
As on date, the automatic transmission system is not available in the Tata Altroz. Both these engines pair with a 5-speed manual transmission. Plans are afoot to introduce a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The date of the launch is not yet decided.
One can get excellent features in the top-spec variant, the Tata Altroz XZ(O). Apart from the 7-inch digital instrument cluster, the high-end variant comes with delectable features like cruise control, cooled glovebox, automatic climate control, auto-projector headlights, push-button start and stop options, ambient lighting for the interiors, rear parking camera, automatic wipers, and LED DRLs.
The infotainment duties are entrusted to a 7-inch touchscreen system that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Tata Altroz offers high-level safety features such as ABS with EBD, dual airbags, Isofix child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, and adjustable rear and front head restraints. These features resulted in the Tata Altroz bagging a 5-star rating at the crash tests conducted by Global NCAP.
The launch is over amid great fanfare today with Tata promising the deliveries to begin by the middle of next month. Once on the roads, the Tata Altroz can give the Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno a run for their money.
