Tata Motors is prepping to launch its highly anticipated premium hatchback, Altroz in the country. While bookings for the hatchback are underway, a promotional clip featuring Altroz has leaked on the inter-web. Styling elements on the outside seem to be carried over from the concept. The clip also reveals doors that can be opened to a 90-degree angle, suggesting easy ingress for front occupants. Set for launch in the coming months, Tata Altroz will sport the same dashboard as seen in the model showcased at the Geneva Motor Show.
The video also gives a glimpse of the interior, featuring ambient lighting. Though, it is not clear if it will come with different colour options. There is also a hint of Google Assistant logo shown at the end of the clip, suggesting an app-based voice-activated function, powered by Google. The video also highlights steering wheel-mounted buttons for audio control and cruise control. Also, the instrument cluster is seen featuring an analogue speedometer and digitalized tachometer.
Reports suggest, the hatchback will be offered with a choice of three engines- an 83 bhp, 1.2L petrol, a 100 bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol unit and a 88 bhp, 1.5L oil burner. The hatchback will get a manual gearbox initially, followed by an auto box at a later stage. In terms of pricing, the Tata Altroz is estimated to fall in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). In its segment, the Tata Altroz will take on Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20.
