After launching the official website for Tata Altroz, the company is now prepping for its unveiling set for July. While the concept version (named 45X) was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, a near-production version called Altroz was previewed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno rival is built on Tata’s evolved IMPACT Design 2.0 theme and it underpins the company’s new Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) platform which will be used in future Tata cars.
As for Tata Altroz specifications, it will be available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The petrol version will get two engine options including a 1.2-litre unit good for a maximum power of 83 bhp and a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with 100 bhp of power which also powers Nexon. Diesel-powered Altroz will get a 1.5-litre turbo unit tuned to put out 88 bhp. Transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed and a six-speed manual gearbox at the time of launch. An automatic transmission is likely to be introduced at a later stage.
While the Altroz launch is a few months away, the company has already rolled out its official website that witnessed over 1 lakh visitors within 24 hours of its rollout which it had expected to attain within a few days of its launch. The website captures cues about the IMPACT 2.0 design theme and gives information in terms of what to expect from the production-spec model when it launches in India.
As for the Tata Altroz price, it is expected to fall in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. The B segment hatchback will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20.
