The 2014 Indian Auto Expo is surely going to be bigger than ever, with almost all the automakers coming up with several of their future products. The home-grown automajor Tata Motors too will bring a couple of new products at the event including Tata Nano diesel and All new Tata Vista facelift. Now there are rumours doing rounds about Tata Motors' plans of unveiling the automatic version of its flagship crossover Tata Aria.
Other than getting an automatic transmission gearbox, the Aria might also see get some additional features and cosmetic updates. However, the company hasn't yet officially said anything about the Aria AT. The car might receive new projector headlamps and revamped tail lights. We could also see a new set of alloys installed with the AT version of the vehicle. Inside the cabin, the car might receive captain seats, replacing the bench seats found in the regular version. The material quality of the interiors too could be more upmarket.
There will be no mechanical changes made to the car, the Aria AT will continue to power the existing 16 valve 2.2-litre Dicor diesel engine, capable of churning out a maximum power output of 138bhp and 320Nm of torque. And if rumours are to be believed, the engine will be tuned to offer an additional 15bhp and 80Nm of torque.
Launched on January 5th at 2012 Auto Expo, the Aria crossover came up with several advanced features. Despite being one of the best cars ever produced by Tata Motors in India, the car failed to lure buyers due to its high pricing. The company later launched the price-cut version, but that too couldn't help the company revive its sales. So, now with this new version, the company would be expecting a rise in its sales.
