Tata Motors, the home-grown automajor, has presented a sporty and powerful version of its recently launched Bolt hatchback at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Being christened as 'Bolt Sport', it comes with a 120bhp Revotron motor and an array of cosmetic changes both outside and inside. Tata Bolt Sport also gets multiple top-notch safety equipments.
Talking about the exterior appearance, Bolt Sport flaunts a less rounded bumper at the front. The darkened projector headlamps along with prominent lower lip and airdams add a shade of sportiness in the hatchback. It drives on 17-inch split-six-spoke alloy wheels which raise the sportiness quotient upto an extent. Also, the air vents on front fender and side skirts look graceful. At the rear, Tata Bolt Sport adorns an all new bumper with diffuser and brushed aluminium strip above the number plate.
Inside the cabin, Bolt Sport hatch boasts black leather interiors with red contrast stitching and red inserts. In addition, it gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear-shift knob with sport pedals. Well, surprisingly, there's sunroof as well. As for infotainment, it gets the Harman infotainment system with voice recognition and SMS readout option. The Bolt Sport also retains the three-drive mode Multidrive system from the regular model of Bolt, which is currently sold in the country. As for safety of the occupants, it gets dual front airbags, ABS and Corner Stability Control.
Under the hood, it features the same 1.2L REVOTRON petrol motor, albeit with enhanced power output. The Revotron engine now generates a maximum power output of 120bhp at 5500 rpm and 170 Nm of maximum torque between 2,000 and 3,500 rpm. It is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. This power advancement comes due to a remapped ECU and a high-flow exhaust system. Tata Motors Bolt Sport also has tweaked gear ratios to increase the responsiveness of the engine. Bolt Sport hatch features disc brakes at the front and rear and a sportier suspension which helps it to get a lower stance.
