Tata Motors is working on a plethora of new vehicles that will be launched in 2020 in the Indian market. The upcoming new vehicles also involve the 7-seater version of Harrier, which is being termed as Tata Buzzard.
The SUV was recently spotted as a test mule in Tamil Nadu. It has already made its global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March and the first public appearance in India could happen at the 2020 Auto Expo in February.
The spy-shots showcase that the exterior styling of Buzzard is predominantly identical to the Harrier, save for the stretched rear overhang. The roofline is taller as well along with a bulge in the quarter glass at the rear end. The SUV could also get an upgraded LED tail lamp cluster, tailgate and roof spoiler.
The Tata Buzzard cabin will be on the same lines as the Harrier while features will include the 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, keyless entry, cruise control, and colored instrument cluster.
Mechanically, Tata Buzzard will be powered by the Fiat-sourced 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engine with a top power of 167bhp and a peak torque of 350Nm. It will be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox could also be available as optional.
The first launch of 2020 for Tata Motors is going to be the Altroz hatchback in January while it will take on the likes of Hyundai i20 and Maruti Baleno. The company is also working on the all-electric Nexon which is the first product to be based on Ziptronic technology.
