The home grown automajor, Tata Motors has delayed the launch of its most anticipated hatchback model, the Tiago to April 2016. Earlier, the Tiago hatchback was touted to be launched on March 28, but as per media reports, the company needs more time to prepare for the launch. Tata Tiago was unveiled in December 2015 by the name “Zica”, as the name resembles the deadly virus “Zika”, the name has to be renamed as Tiago.
Customers above 18 years of age can book a Tiago either online or at any of the Tata Motors’ Authorized Dealership with a payment of INR 10,000. Positioned between Nano and Bolt, the Tiago is the first car to be designed on the company’s new IMPACT design language. Tata Tiago made its public appearance during the 2016 Auto Expo and was also showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The front of the Tiago hatchback gets an all new honeycomb radiator grille and a chrome ‘Humanity Line’ that runs between both the clear lens headlights. It features a sharper shoulder line that makes it look younger, and a minimalist looking tail lamp cluster. Inside, the Tiago gets an black and grey dual shade central console, with orange inserts on the AC vents. It features adjustable ORVMs, rear defogger, a Harman infotainment system with best in class music system, Bluetooth, AUX-In and USB connectivity, steering mounted audio controls & smartphone integration via Tata ConnectNEXT, TFT display.
Under the hood, the Tata Tiago comes with two engine options; the 1.2 litre three-cylinder “Revotron” petrol engine that churns out 85PS of power at 114Nm of torque and the 1.0 Litre three-cylinder “revotorq” diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 70PS at a torque of 140Nm. Once launched the small car will go against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Celerio.
