There is no denying the fact that whatever Tata Group is doing for the last few years, is doing a very grandeur scale. While Tata Motor is a point-in-case, with all the big launches like Tata Nano, Tata Kite, Tata Zest, Tata Elxsi, the electronic division of Tata is no different. Tata is planning to participate at the ongoing CES 2015 in a big way.
Part of the $100 billion Tata Group, Tata Elxsi will be showcasing its future range of automotive technologies at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015, Las Vegas, US. Some of the technologies include connected car, autonomous vehicles and In-Vehicle infotainment technologies and many other high-tech gears. Here is a brief look at what Tata is offering:
Autonomous vehicles and ADAS: Like most of the autonomous vehicles available in the market, Tata Elxsi's autonomous vehicle will have an automatic Parking feature. The prototype will have sensor & vision based ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology. The prototype will be powered by an in-house developed trajectory planning, smoothening and tracking system.
Next-Gen Multi-Modal HMI: The next generation infotainment systems will be a Human machine interface (HMI), that utilizes various modes of interaction like the voice, touch, gesture and buttons, for communication with the car. This not only reduces distraction, it also enhances the feel. The Elxsi's HMI can very well be part of the future Tata cars.
In-Vehicle infotainment framework: The in-vehicle infotainment framework uses wearable devices to interact with the car's systems. Aimed to reduce the distraction, it will use the Multi-modal HMI system to achieve the results.
Car companion apps: One of the major and looked after technology is the companion apps, that can tell the real time condition of the vehicle using mobiles. Connected through Bluetooth, the app will help in pre-judging any potential breakdown.
Secured gateway for integration of smart devices: The secured gateway gives an excess for information exchange between the cars and the external devices.
Telematics & V2X solutions: The V2X Emulator technology brings the real-world traffic scenario in a lab. The virtual lab is used to create applications for the cars, tested under real-world traffic scenario, only without going outside in the field, reducing the effort and money both.
