Earlier, we informed you that Tata Motors would soon introduce Tata Harrier with some new updates such as updated Infotainment system, tuner steering system, better NVH levels as well as improved responsive soft touch clutch. Now, Tata Motors is vigorously testing on the BS 6 compliant engine which is more powerful on the Harrier SUV and was recently spotted doing test rounds on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Tata Harrier price in India starts from Rs 13 lakh and the range goes up to Rs 16.76 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new BS 6 compliant 2.0-litre diesel motor would belt out 168 bhp of maximum power that means, it will get a bump of over 30 bhp of power, compared to the regular version that makes 138 bhp of power. Going by the image closely, the test mule spotted also gets a sunroof, clearly hinting on that the Tata Motors is aggressively working on updating the model range and soon will add an automatic transmission to the model range and this has been confirmed by a sticker on the model, proving it to be a BS 6 compliant engine and the car will also come coupled to an automatic transmission.
Currently, the Tata Harrier specification includes only one - 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 138 bhp of power with 350 Nm of top torque. The homegrown carmaker will soon introduce a 6-speed automatic transmission, sourced by Hyundai on the Harrier SUV. With this Tata Motors will go neck-in-neck with the soaring competition in the market with the recently launched MG Hector and the upcoming Kia Seltos SUV. Moreover, Tata Motors is also planning to launch a seven-seat version of the model, named as Buzzard that recently made its debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Buzzard and the Tata Harrier automatic version are likely to make their launch by sometime next year.
