Tata Motors has finally launched the Harrier Dark Edition at a starting price of Rs 16.76 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. Being based on the range-topping XZ variant, it is offered in a new Atlas Black paint scheme with black interior elements. Earlier, the company also introduced dual-tone variants of the SUV to mark the 10,000 unit sales milestone in the Indian market.
Underpinning the OMEGARC platform, which is derived from the Land Rover Discovery Sport's D8 architecture, Tata Harrier Dark Edition comes with a total of 14 design updates. It rides on 17-inch Blackstone alloy wheels while the cabin is finished in an all-new Blackstone theme with Benecke Kaliko Blackstone leather upholstery, Blackstone Matrix dashboard, and a new Gunmetal Grey chrome pack. The company has been teasing the Black Edition for quite a time on its various social media accounts through images and short videos. Tata Motors will also upgrade the 2.0L diesel engine of the Harrier to BS-VI certification level before April 2020. Currently, the 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine develops the top power of 167bhp and peak torque of 350Nm.
The Tata Harrier range starts from Rs 12.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) and the BS-VI models will certainly be more expensive. The company has been introducing these new variants in order to keep the competition alive, which has been further stiffened by the launch of MG Hector and Kia Seltos.
