Initially, the SUV will be offered in a five seater configuration and will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and upcoming Nissan Kicks, while a seven seater layout will join on later stages. It is based on the OMEGA architecture, derived from Land Rover’s legendary D8 platform. Inside, the Harrier will come packed with premium materials and features such as a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, push start/stop, etc., to name a few.
Mechanically, Tata Harrier will come powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that can easily make 140bhp of top power. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox could be on offer in range-topping variants.
