The all-new Tata Harrier, previously known as H5X SUV, will officially debut on January 20, 2019 at the Mumbai Marathon. The home-grown automaker had presented the all-new SUV at the 2018 Auto Expo in Concept form. Since then, it has been spotted several times as test mule in disguised form on Indian roads. A couple of months back in July, the company announced the official name 'Harrier' for the SUV. Tata Harrier will arrive in a 5-seat configuration and would take on the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass in the Indian market.

Underpinning the new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) monocoque architecture, which is jointly developed by Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover, the Harrier SUV would debut the company's new IMPACT Design 2.0 design language. The front fascia would flaunt sleek LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs) and V-shaped grille. It would run on newly-designed alloy wheels while the rear profile would boast of an integrated spoiler and slim wraparound LED tail-lamp cluster. Inside the cabin, Tata Harrier would have several premium features in form of dual-tone upholstery, floating touchscreen infotainment system, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and an instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer and a digital colour screen as standard.

Mechanically, the Harrier SUV would be introduced in diesel fuel trim with Fiat-sourced 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, which also does duties to the Jeep Compass. Reportedly, the engine will deliver power and torque in two trims: 148bhp with 350Nm and 170bhp with 350Nm. The engine would be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is still unconfirmed whether an AWD variant will be introduced at the time of launch or at a later stage. The petrol variants are also not expected to launch with the diesel variants, instead the company could introduce them a few months later. Tata Harrier price is expected to start at Rs 17 Lakh (Ex. Showroom) and go as high as Rs 21 Lakhs for the range-topping variant.
