Tata Harrier SUV Now Available with Updated Apple CarPlay

Tata Harrier owners can update their SUV with CarPlay through a software update. The flagship model was already available with Android AutoPlay. Launched earlier this year, Harrier is offered with two touchscreen infotainment systems including a Floating Island 7-inch unit and a Floating Island 8.8-inch unit. The smaller unit is offered with the XE, XM and XT grades, whereas the range-topping XZ trim comes with the larger, 8.8-inch unit which is available with the ‘Q5_R09.02’, software update for the Apple CarPlay.

There is yet no clarity if the 7-inch infotainment system is available with a software update on the XT variant. The C-SUV from Tata Motors is based on Jaguar Land Rover-derived D8 underpinnings. In terms of styling, it gets key elements such as two-tier light set-up in front including HID Xenon projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights that are positioned above headlamps and also serve as turn indicators. Moving to the sides, it gets 17-inch alloy wheels and rear is adorned by captivating tail-lamps featuring LED units.

The large cabin is layered with a touchscreen infotainment system, Benecke-KalikoT Oak Brown perforated leather seat upholstery and semi-digital instrument cluster with 7-inch TFT display, etc. On the safety front, Harrier packs a host of advanced features such as Hill Hold Control, six airbags, Hill Descent Control, rollover mitigation, Electronic Stability Program, Electronic Traction Control among several others.

Under the hood, it gets FCA sourced 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine with ‘Kryotec’ branding. This unit puts out a maximum power of 140 PS at 3,750 rpm along with peak torque of 350 Nm between 1,750 to 2,500 rpm. It comes paired to a standard six-speed manual gearbox. A six-speed torque converter automatic unit sourced from Hyundai will be added to the carline at a later stage.
