The Auto Expo witnessed Tata Motors showcasing two impressive concepts, the Tata HBX concept, and the Tata Sierra. Of the two, the Tata HBX is shaping up beautifully with the vehicle coming close to 97% production. It thus gives hope that the impressive SUV could get a launch sometime by the end of 2020. The Tata Sierra could take some more time to get ready.
The Tata HBX will be getting a new name by the time it gets closer to the launch. The vehicle made its entry as an H2X concept at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2019. Someone gave the car the name, Hornbill. The Auto Expo saw the vehicle get a new name, HBX, a combination of the H2X and the Hornbill. When launched, it could find a place below the Tata Nexon.
Pratap Bose, VP of Tata Motors, shared some of the sketches of the HBX on social media. He confirmed that the concept displayed at the Auto Expo was around 97% close to production levels. If what he said becomes true, auto lovers will be staring at a wonderfully designed car in their midst.
The Tata HBX design draws inspiration from the Rhinoceros Hornbill, a bird species. The concept seems to have an excellent combination, as Tata plans to build the HBX as a rugged and adventure-ready off-roader SUV. One can witness some changes to the concept design. The speculation is that the vehicle could end up as a front-wheel sub-4m raised compact SUV. Though it could look similar to the Tata Harrier, there will be subtle differences.
