Tata Hexa crossover has been spied testing on the Indian roads for the very first time, albeit heavily camouflaged. Just so you know, Tata Hexa concept had its world premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in Match 2015 and Mayank Pareek, Tata's head of Passenger Vehicle Division had stated that it would launch in India by the end of 2015. It is also being learnt that Tata Motors could unveil the production-ready version of Hexa at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.
The home-grown automajor says, "Hexa unveils a new direction to the design language of future Tata SUVs.” The folks at Powerdrift spied the first test mule of Tata Hexa on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. As one can see in the images despite being heavily disguised, the Hexa SUV's final designing would be quite identical to the pre-production model showed at the Geneva Motor Show. It would come with flat bonnet, honeycomb mesh grille, large door mirrors with turn indicators and five-spoke alloy wheels. Tata Hexa, in all likelihood, would also carry concept's projector headlamps, blackened pillar and body kit. The interior cabin would comprise of 6-captain seats and separate A/C vents for second and third row.
Mechanically, Tata Hexa would be powered by a 2.2L VARICOR 400 engine, which would develop a maximum power of 154bhp. It would be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard; Though, a 6-speed automatic transmission, sourced from General Motors, might also be an offing. Furthermore, it is being learnt that Tata Hexa might just also be available with an AWD system as optional. The pricing is expected to start from Rs. 10 Lakhs (Ex. showroom) at least, while the major challengers would be Mahindra XUV500, Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.
