After revealing its meaning segment product the Tata Zica, Tata Motors is gearing up its next flagship SUV “Tata Hexa” in the Indian market in 2016. The homegrown auto major will showcase the SUV at the Auto Expo 2016 and is also planning to launch the Hexa around mid-2016. Thanks to Tata’s "HORIZONEXT" philosophy, that has overcome the not so successful premium SUV Aria by revealing this product range on slot.
The model was first unveiled in its concept version earlier in March this year, at the Geneva Motor Show 2015. Later, the SUV was spotted doing some test rounds in India on several occasions, which further confirmed the company’s plan to launch the SUV next year. Reportedly, the brand announced its decision to launch two new products every year, by this we expect the Hexa will surely be the first Tata product to be launched in 2016-17 fiscal year.
Talking about the interior, the Tata Hexa will be offer as a six-seater SUV, and the middle section will have captain seats. It will offer plush leather stitched with twin-needle and some other new features along with a compact multi-functional steering wheel unit. The concept showcased at the Geneva Auto Show 2015 had ambient lighting inside the cabin along with a large hi-resolution touchscreen infotainment system.
Most interesting part is the power, the new Tata Hexa is expected to be be power-packed with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder VARICOR diesel unit that will churn out 154 bhp and 400 Nm of peek torque, the same engine that powers-up the range-topping Tata Safari Storme VX. It will be paired with a newly developed six-speed manual gearbox, while an automatic transmission is also likely to be introduced with this SUV.
