The home-grown automajor Tata Motors which has been facing a tough time selling even its potent products is aiming to launch several new and facelifted cars in months to come. One such product is Tata Manza compact sedan, which is going to be a sub-4 metre version of the company's flagship sedan Manza.
Tata Manza was earlier rumoured to be coming within this year only, however, our sources tell us that the vehicle could be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, and the launch might take place after a month or two. Being a sub-4 metre car, the Manza CS will compete against Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze, the top two sellers of the segment. Later on, a compact sedan from Hyundai too might join the league.
There are also media reports claiming the Manza compact sedan to have been brought for official on-road testing, which further assures us about its early next year launch. The Manza compact sedan is likely to take its design inspiration from the Manza hybrid, which was showcased at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. So, we are expecting the Manza to get a more aggressive front fascia with a new set of headlamps and newly designed front bumper with triangular airdams. Since, it's going to be a sub-4 metre sedan, so the boot might be chopped down in a way to make it look like a notchback.
Engines to be offered with the Manza compact sedan are likely to be 1.3-litre multijet diesel and 1.2-litre petrol, which also power the Indica Vista. Pricing will be one factor on which Tata Motors will be spot on, the car is expected to be priced around Rs 5 lakh, however there is no official confirmation on the pricing.
