Home grown automajor, Tata Motors could further delay the launch of the Nexon Compact SUV, as the brand is focusing over it again in order to give a competitive price in the Indian market. First showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Tata Nexon has been tagged with many launch dates and according to the Economic Times, the launch of the compact SUV could take place in 2017.
Reportedly, Tata Motors seems to have driven the launch of its compact sedan, the Kite 5 further to the year 2017. Tata Nexon is also expected to get a lot of tweaks in its production-specs than the one debuted at the expo, earlier this year.
The car has been spied several times on roads with heavy camouflage wraps and is based on the company’s next generation Impact design philosophy. Going by the look, it features projector headlamps with DRLs and the front fascia gets decent chrome work, while the rear gets LED taillamps with accentuated chrome and a sloping roof-rails. The Nexon compact SUV sits on the 16inch alloy wheels. Inside, it will be loaded up with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, get keyless entry, automatic climate control, push start/top button and reverse-parking camera.
Mechanically, the Tata Nexon will be offered in both petrol and diesel units. The petrol version will be a Revotron 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine which will capable to develop a maximum power of 118 bhp and a peak torque of 260 Nm. The diesel one, on the contrary, is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder powertrain with a power output of 108 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. While for the transmission, you could a choice between a 6-speed manual or an AMT transmission.
Once launched, the car will compete with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and is expected to range between Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
