Indian automaker, Tata Motors have reported a 5.14 per cent decline in global sales, including that of Jaguar Land Rover to 77,575 units in May 2014. The automaker sold 81,783 units in the same month year ago. In the passenger vehicles category, the global sales last month were at 48,414 units as against 43,142 units in May 2013, which translates to a growth of 12.2 per cent. Sales of luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover rose to 24.85 per cent to 38,998 units in the month of May 2014, when compared to 31,210 units sold in the year ago period.
In terms of commercial vehicles such as the Tata Daewoo and the Hispano Carrocera range, the sales declined 24.52 per cent in the month of May to 29,161 units from 38,641 units sold in the corresponding period year ago. Global wholesales for the Jaguar Land Rover stood at 38,998 units in May 2014, of which sales of 6,848 units were brought in by Jaguar, while Land Rover contributed with sales of 32,150 vehicles.
